Questions for the Week of April 30th

1. Stacey tells Cassie that Big Ma had to make Cassie apologize. Stacey tells her that ". . . maybe she had to do it." Why does Big Ma make Cassie apologize to "Miz Lillian Jean"? What does Stacey understand that Cassie does not?

2. What is the significance of Uncle Hammer driving the same car as Mr. Granger? After the white people in the truck back off of Soldier's Bridge when the Logan's come along, what does Mama mean when she says ". . . one day we'll have to pay for it."

1. Tell all you know so far about the Night Men, their actions, and the reasons why they do what they do. What do you think motivates them to be this way?

2. Describe the bus incident including the events leading up to it. Were the children's actions justified? Do you think it's okay to hurt someone in the name of justice?
